Early Life

Aisha was born in late 613 or early 614.  She was the daughter of Umm Ruman and Abu Bakr of Mecca, two of Muhammad’s most trusted companions.  Aisha was the third and youngest wife of Muhammad

Aisha Marriage to Muhammad

The idea to match Aisha with Muhammad was suggested by Khawlah bint Hakim. British historian William Montgomery Watt suggests that Muhammad hoped to strengthen his ties with Abu Bakr  the strengthening of ties commonly served as a basis for marriage in Arabian culture

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said to me, ‘You were shown to me twice (in my dream) before I married you. I saw an angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said to him, ‘Uncover (her),’ and behold, it was you.’ (Bukhari, Hadith 6495)

Time of Death

Aisha remained Muhammad’s favourite wife throughout his life. When Prophet Muhammad PBUH became ill and suspected that he was probably going to die,  He remained in Aisha’s apartment until his death, and his last breath was taken as he lay in the arms of Aisha, his most beloved wife
